How To Stop The War Between Cats And Dogs?

My heart was pumping as I softly closed the door, my three musketeers snoozing unaware. As if counselled by a psychic of my secret rendezvous they had cleverly aligned this meeting of new friends became a war of dislike,. As my body began melting my composure returned, who would be the general and take on this command? Who would show bravery in this moment in time? The moments seemed like hours as the room seemed to spin until Romeo the love god began his great move. “Hi their young poodle welcome to our gang”. His silent voice bellowing to all corners of the room Romeo the stray cat that came and never left, an angel in transit had welcomed this boy in.

The new kid on the block was a gorgeous miniature black poodle christened Jessie by his former owner a fun loving extrovert that my four- legged friends would somehow sort it all out. Confident and fearless my resolve was in place as Jessie and I braced for this meeting of characters from a play I had once read. In a motionless dance we stood face to face. Who would be the brave one who would take the chance?

My prayers had been answered as Romeo broke through this spell, this wonderful ginger cat an angel in transit. “Romeo, oh Romeo” a prince among cats had paved the way for the rest to follow. Lucy was purring her heart on her sleeve as she let out a meow as if reinforcing the welcome that Romeo had given. Like a caring old grandma she voiced her lament so far the children were helping this meet. The last of the mariners was the Queen of us all and at this point showed no interest, no attitude was presenting itself. Though the moment seemed positive the worst was to come as the Queen of our paradise turned monster in our midst. With a face like a horror show and a voice sure to match she began to make headway toward a poodle trying to escape.

That was the first meeting and it has been two weeks since then. I will not say there is peace in the valley, but my sheer determination to have a happy little family is paying off. Romeo is in love with Jessie and follows us halfway down the road where he waits for us to return from the park or a leisurely walk. I truly believe in a spiritual world now where soul mates find each other even if they are different animals. Say what you want but from the first day these two guys had something special and it will always be a beautiful thing to see. Lucy is a sweetheart a little trooper when it comes to her new nephew. Even when he is boisterous she lets out a gentle meow as if to say. That is enough you are getting too rough. It seems to work he generally walks away.

So what of Queen Ruby did she bite the bullet and become Jessie’s friend, do not be disappointed as her stance has remained If Jessie had come into a home with only one other cat my execution may have been different and I would have considered replacing him to avoid potential chaos. But in this case my family being larger than life I have called on some genius to ensure the happiness of them both. Like a mum with a new baby I have used tactics to embrace, the differences between these children that may never be resolved. If your cats and dogs are in the trenches with their guns steadily aimed, remember you love them and god bless you for that.
