If you were to walk through my grandparents house, you would see a huge variety of antique wood furniture. Much of it is actually in very good shape although some of it shows its age.This furniture has been around for as long as I can remember, and has weathered four children and nine grandchildren. It's stood up rather well, and that might be because it was very well made, and was meant to last. There are many things you can do to save it even though not all antique wood furniture this age look good.


There are many people who are always looking for a great piece of antique wood furniture. They keep going to shops and flea markets to get something they love. I can see why this might be a lot of fun but I haven't really had the time to do it myself just yet. The ones you can find in flea markets are often the best deal you can get, and you can spot a bargain if you know anything about antique wood furniture. What might look like a beat up old chair might have a much higher value than the vendor ask for.



If you find a beat up piece of antiquewoodfurniture, you have two options. You can pay someone to restore it or you can restore it yourself. It's a lot of work to do it yourself although it could be a lot of fun. I needed to remove three layers of paint on a old table that I loved once. I worked long and hard on it, but I never got the paint off.

The table is now in my mom's attic. Now I can see why more intricate pieces might need professional help.


You can bring your old antique wood furniture to an antique specialist. Many of them have people on staff that are qualified to restore old pieces. I would imagine you could find them almost anywhere since there are many in my small area. You can take a nicked and worn piece of antique wood furniture in and bring it home looking like it is new. These experts can also repair the pieces, and if something is missing, they can create a new part that looks so good you won't know the difference. They can also restore modern furniture that may have broken or if it just looks worn down.
